FREE COMIC BOOK DAY

Yesterday was national free comic book day. You could have gone into any comic book shop across the country and received a bunch of free comic books. Many shops had other events going on as well. Chris did drawings and signings at Elite Comics in Overland Park. So after nap time we decided to go visit him. They had professional looking super heroes that you could have your picture taken with. Violet wanted nothing to do with Super Girl so I had to be in the picture too. Violet was dressed appropriately, she wore her Batman shirt.

PICTURE DAY

Yesterday was class picture day. Violet missed it last year because she was sick, so this is our first class picture. It'll be nice having a picture of her and all her friends that she knows by name.

Here's Violet twirling around in her new skirt.

AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL

Violet doing her runway walk. Knows how to model the clothes!

Violet LOVES this skirt. She calls it her 'pretty dress'. Actually she calls all her dresses pretty dresses. In this picture she was twirling around dancing the kitchen.

THIRSTY TREE

Violet's new favorite outdoor activity. This easily keeps her busy for about half an hour. She'll keep asking for water till I say the plants are full.

SUMMER IS OFFICIALLY HERE

We had our first neighborhood barbeque on Friday night. It included six families on our street.
Lots of hotdogs, sides and smores and chilly weather for a fire. The fire pit kind of gets rolled around from house to house. It all depends on whose driveway we end up on on friday or saturday nights.
We fed Violet at home before the barbeque. We knew she wouldn't eat anything. But she did eat four brownies! That should fatten her up.
Violet actually made it to 7:45. She started to get tired around 7:15 and laid her head on my shoulder. When she started asking about reading Thomas and Percy I knew it was time to take her to bed.

GO FLY A KITE

Yesterday we went to the kite festival at Longview. It was a lot of fun and the weather was perfect. To get an idea of the size of some of these kites, the yellow and blue caterpillare kites on the ground are the size of school buses.

Mmmm....Kettle corn....

...and raisins!

Violet was going crazy dancing to the music. She learned to do the macarena and ymca.

We tried a new pizza place over at New Longview. We could watch the kites from inside. All that sun and fresh air, not to mention the crazy dancing, wore Violet out.

BIRDS EYE VIEW

Not only do we have tons of Finches but now we have a Robins nest. I took a picture of her this morning when I finally saw her in the nest. The nest has been there for a while but I never saw a bird.

This evening Chris got up on a step stool and took a picture inside the nest. The camera caught two eggs. We're not sure if there are anymore. I'm sure we'll be taking more pictures.

NEW BEST FRIENDS

We didn't prompt Violet at all to do this. She really loves the dog and every time we go to Old Navy she has to pet it. I wish I could get a big plastic dog like that.
I'm guessing she understand these aren't real. I know she would never go up to a person and hug them. Maybe she thinks they are big dolls.

CRIME FIGHTER

I finally got two of the three patches I bought at Planet Comic-Con sewn onto tshirts. I need to pick up a light pink shirt to sew her Care Bear patch on.

Violet is finally figuring out the steering thing. We have to yell "turn the wheel" a lot. I've found myself saying "turn right" or "turn left". She might even know what right or left means by the end of the summer. She still is having a problem stopping. Which is just taking your foot off the gas. She knows what stop means. When we're playing in the front yard with the neighbor kids and we see a car I yell "Violet Stop" and she stops whatever she is doing. She understands. She also knows that red lights mean stop and stop signs mean stop. Her new obsession while in the car is actually stop signs.

Driving around the tree in the front yard all by herself.

Where did I put my invisible plane!! HAHA!
