TOO HOT!!!!

It's too hot to do anything outside and too hot to be in a car for to long. Violet's been getting a little antsy to get out of the house, so we decided to go to Petco which is only 5 min from the house and look at some animals. It's air conditioned, it's free, and I can pick up dog food.
We got to see a dog getting a hair cut. Violet thought that was very funny.

Violet said the guinea pigs were playing peekaboo.

MATCHY, MATCHY

I was unloading the dishwasher the other night and Violet wanted to help. So I told her she could put her cups on the counter. I would hand her a cup and then she'd go and put it on the counter. The whole time I had my back to the area of the counter where she was putting her cups. Once she had finished getting all the cups she wanted the lids. So I handed those to her too. She put them on the counter and then ran off. I finished unloading the rest of the dishes and turned around expecting to see a pile of cups and lids all over the counter, only I discovered this. All the cups lined up with the correct lids. I also noticed that the cups are almost lined up in gradual size order. I don't know who she gets this from. ;)

AMAZING!

We spent most of the morning yesterday drawing. Violet prefers markers over crayons right now. These are the first darwings from her that look like more than scribbles. I'm amazed at these. The top drawings are school buses. She loves school buses. She's drawn these before on her Magna Doodle and I'm glad I got a drawing now that I can keep.
The second drawing is of people. I tried to really simplify them for her by showing her as few steps as possible. A circle and two lines. I'd draw one then she'd draw one. We must have filled up 5 to 6 pages of people. She came home a couple weeks ago drawing circles and squares and I was impressed. She's now taking those shapes and turning them into pictures. Awesome and she's not even 2 1/2!

MONKEY JOE'S & SPANKY'S

Monday morning we went to Monkey Joe's. It's like a big warehouse with tons of bounce houses and jump arounds. There weren't a lot of kids around which was nice. Violet and Jackson didn't have to deal with too many kids that moved faster than them.

It took Violet a couple of minutes to warm up. Jackson was diving right in finally she followed along. Having him to watch helped.

Violet did exactly what Jackson did. If he was running around in circles, she'd do the same. If he'd fall down Violet would fall down too. Very cute.

This made me nervous. She got run over by a couple older kids who were in a hurry and wouldn't wait so they just climbed over her. Even better the parents are just standing their letting it happen. An employee stepped in and helped Violet the rest of the way.

She came flying down the slide so fast she hardly had time to react. She got up and asked to do it again. So up she went and down she came, only this time she crashed at the end. She was done then.

Getting tired.

Lunch at Applebee's. Cheese!!

Violet was pretty tired. Her left eye gets kind of lazy when she gets tired. It's really noticeable in pictures and I've noticed it since she was an infant.

After dinner we all headed to Spanky's for icecream. It's like Ted Drew's only closer to Grandma's house. It's been there since I was in grade school.
Yes, Violet is in a different outfit. We had a little poo incident. I think she had to much apple juice. Gross.

MAGIC HOUSE

We went to the Magic House Saturday morning because it was too hot to do any outside activities. Our plans for Grants Farm and Suson Park will have to wait till September.

Kind of hard to crawl in a dress. My bad!

HARRY CONNICK JR. CONCERT

We are back from our STL trip. I have lots of pictures to post. Here's my first batch.
Got to see Harry Connick Jr. in concert friday night at the Fox. I have always liked the interior of the Fox and finally took some pictures. Till I got busted! Mom and I sat in row 15, dead center. Very good view. My friend Joni and her daughter Elaine(age 6) had front row seats. Harry talked to Elaine and said her name about 7 or 8 times. Very cool!

Lobby

Lobby ceiling.

More lobby.

Stage. Picture of the curtain didn't turn out so well.

Above stage.

Floor level. Here's where I got busted for taking pics inside the theater. Apparently you can only take pictures of the lobby. I also had my big SLR which is very noticeable and I think people freak out when they see a camera that big.

DIRTY BABY

NEW TREES & 'MATERS

One of our neighbors father-in-law gets whole sale prices at a local nursery so a bunch of neighbors and us all went in to order trees. We ordered two and got a really good deal.

The one in the background near the fence is called a Serviceberry. It's a shrub tree. You can eat the berries if you want.

We pulled out our birch tree that we planted three years ago and never grew. Chris literally lifted it right out of the ground. It wasn't dead, but the roots never took off. Very weird. This is and Autumn Sunset Maple. It will turn bright red in the fall. We also finally finished the area around the bird house. I planted phlox, lavendar, and honeysuckle. we officially have birds living in three of the six apartments.

Here are my out of control tomatoes. The left one is an Early Girl, though typically by now we should have red ones on that plant. I think the cold May weather set them back. The plant on the right are cherry tomatoes. I've picked three. We will have hundreds of these. They are very tastey!
