I LICK IT

This evening Violet helped me make cookies that I'm taking to work tomorrow. I gave her four of her own to ice.

More icing made it in the mouth than on the cookies.

HORSEY!!

Yesterday we went to a birthday party for our neighbors one year old. The party was held at their parents farm. The highlight for Violet was seeing the horse. She loved seeing it at a distance.
Didn't like seeing it up close.

SAY WHAT? WEDNESDAYS

The sun is brutal on the way to school every morning. I enjoy the mornings when it is cloudy. Violet complains so much about the sun being in her eyes. This is Violet this morning, she said, "the sun is kissing Violey".

WHAT'S IN THE STUDIO?

Chris and I have been spending more time working on our own artwork. It's been so hot out anyway that we enjoy hanging out in the basement. I've got 5 shows coming up, Stuffed Mag, and let's not forget Halloween and new fall clothes for Violet.

B-2 BOMBER

Whiteman Airforce Base

One of our neighbors works at Whiteman Airforce base and got us onto the base to see the B2-bomber up close. So close we got to get in the cockpit. Many people don't get that opportunity. In fact they are getting ready to rework the interiors of these planes and no outside people will be allowed in them.
It took two weeks to get clearance for all of us . Background checks were needed before we could go. We also needed two forms of ID before seeing the plane.
Security is very tight into the area where the planes are held. Lots of barbed wire, monitored fences and signs that say deadly force may be used. We got clearance to take photos but I was still nervous about taking pics. Last thing I wanted was to have my camera confiscated.

The base holds about 20 planes. Each has their own hanger.

I was able to invite John and Izzy along.

Pictures of the cockpit were not allowed. The space inside the plane is very small. Only enough room for 2 people. We were told that they will hold 24hr missions in the air. This requires fueling in mid air. I can't imagine sitting in that small space for that long.

MORE WATER FUN

Forgot I had these pics from this past weekend. Violet got a new water table last week. She much prefers this over a baby pool. It's a lot more fun because it has roads and bridges built in. I found this reduced at Walmart, what I love about it is that it has a large umbrella that fits in the middle and it open and closes like a picnic table umbrella.

Though it might look like Jackson is screaming, he's actually squealing and laughing.

Violet will actually dunk her head in the water. Something she won't do in a pool.

SAY WHAT? WEDNESDAYS

We pass lots of playgrounds and backyard swing sets on the way to and from school. With everyone we pass Violet mumbles, "I wanna go up dere", in a very sad pathetic manner.

POOL & MOVIE COMBO

This morning we went to our neighborhood pool. We went pretty early so we had the pool mostly to ourselves.

Because it's still really hot out we decided to see a movie this afternoon. We saw Despicable Me. They could have really cared less about the movie, they just wanted popcorn.

PLAYGROUND

Fun with my iPhone.

SUMMIT WAVES

Jackson and Aunt Karen are in town so we decided to go to the Summit Waves pool. They have a fun kid area.

Grumpy.

More grumpy.

It took both of them almost an hour to really warm up to actually getting in the water. Violet said she was swimming like a fish.

PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT

Violet has been practicing holding scissors. We've been using the Play-Doh scissors right now. We still can't tell if she's right or left handed. Right now she's ambidextrous. Did I spell that right? Anyway, to us she's equally using the right and left. The other day she was drawing with both hands at the same time.
