MISSOURI TOWN FALL FESTIVAL

On Sunday we headed over to Missouri Town for their fall festival. It was a much nicer day than Saturday.

Group shot not gonna happen.

On the way out we stopped by the Hoofed Animal Enclosure and got to finally see the buffalo. Most of the time they are way out in the field by the pond or hiding out in the trees.

These guys were a little sassy.

What?

RENAISSANCE FESTIVAL 2012

Unicorn face painting!
Violet wanted to wear her fairy wings and pixie dust necklace this year. Jackson brought his pirate gear, perfect for pirate weekend, which was this past weekends theme.

I was amazed she wanted to do this . She was a little apprehensive though.

No fear.

Jackson spent the whole day looking for treasure that a Pirate told him was buried somewhere.
The other fairy spent the day bundled up. This is her judging me look. I get that often.
We finished up the afternoon with the jousting event.
ouch!

I don't know if this guy was trying to look like Henry VIII, but he was doing a good job. Only thing missing from this pic is a giant turkey leg in his hand.

PUMPKIN PICKING 2012

We took our annual trip out to Johnson Farms Pumpkin Patch on Sunday. It was a beautiful morning. A little chilly but nice. We crammed in a ton this past weekend. Soccer game Saturday (2 goals this weekd!) then Octoberfest in downtown Lees Summit and then pumpkin picking Sunday. I'm tired.

Violet was very smiley and in a great mood all morning till we left. Riding on the hay ride out to the fields.
I found it! I want this one!
Heading back to play and see the animals.
This is the first year she would actually go up to the ponies.
They have added a giant tunnel town this year. You'd think Violet would have been all over that thing. Not so much.
Barrel train ride.
Lastly we went out to the flower field an picked a  few flowers.

BREAKFAST PRINCESS

I finished the crown last night and Violet wanted to try it on again this morning. It's made out of gold costume satin lined with a cream colored felt. I did have to iron on a fusible interface to the satin before I sewed it all together.

SLEEPING BEAUTY, AURORA, BRIAR ROSE...

Violet's gown is complete. Working on the crown now. I did have to make a tulle underskirt for this because it was just laying so limp.
Two thumbs up were given for 'spin-ability'.

OFFICIALLY HALLOWEEN SEASON

It's officially Halloween season around here when the Halloween decorations come out.
Standard stuff like the leaf garland up the steps, giant terracotta jack-o-lanters, and vintage reproduction paper masks and pumpkins were all brought up from the basement.

Some new stuff this year was added. Bought a small apothecary jar and filled it with spiders. Then I stricky-tacked the spiders outside the jar and up the walls. Violet got to help me stick these all over the walls. The witch book is new. It's just one of those cardboard books/boxes you can get at HobbyLobby. I painted it to look old. The inside has some fun orange and black scrap book paper I found.

More spidees!

And more spiders on our Haunted Memories photos.  These keep us in the Halloween spirit all year long. Love the reactions we get from people who have never been in out house before and see these for the first time.

Made this panel for the door. It fits in well with my paper victorianesque Halloween decor. It's a fabric quilt panel .

NEW FALL DIGS

::click images to see larger:::
These have been sitting around for about 3 months waiting to be finished. All I needed to do was add button holes and elastic but I kept putting it off. I realized that the weather is changing and I need to finish this stuff up.
The jacket is made of a heavy corduroy with a cotton lining. Will be great for fall and warmer winter days but not for the bitter cold temps. I made a 6 so I hope she'll get two falls out of it.

I decided to make some of these skirts again. I haven't made these for two years. The bunch I made her two years ago, though shorter, still fit her and look good with leggings. So the new ones will get at least two years of wear.
