BATHROOM REMODEL

So we are remodeling our main level bathroom. This is the first big remodel project in this house were we are ripping stuff out. This project is really the result of the fact that we are getting new carpet in the living room at the end of the summer. But in order to do that we had to redo the bathroom because we wanted tile that goes from the garage door into the bathroom. So it's a bit of a domino effect.

 

Here's a pic of all the carpet and linoleum removed. I hated the carpet at the door to the garage. Dumb idea. But to have it changed when we built the house was going to be to costly so we said we'd do it later.

 

All holes and tears parched because the builders glued the mirror to the wall instead of using the little plastic brackets. New paint on wall. A nice grey. White bead board will go up last, that's why I didn't paint all the way to the floor. New sink vanity is much smaller than the older ugly builders grade unit. It's a not quite a walnut color and not quite cherry. Something in between.

The floor turned out awesome! The dark floor, dark vanity, white wood work and grey walls are going to look great. Faucet will be a dark bronze finish. It'll match the light fixture which we bought a few years ago and are keeping.

LAST DAY OF KINDERGARTEN

Last day and first day pics side by side. Yes she is wearing the same outfit and yes I planned that back in August.

We had kind of a rough start at the beginning. Lots of new things for her, new school, riding the bus, learning to buy lunch, new friends, Girl Scouts and let's not forget a new baby brother. Plus throw in Soccer, swim lessons and other activities and this year FLEW by. I feel like I've just been able to really get into a routine.

She has grown a ton this year, and not just in height. Daddy told her her brain grew this year and I can tell she has more confidence in the things she does.

Another perfect report card. Got our summer worksheets, books and sight words ready for reviewing!

FIELD DAY FLAG CEREMONY

The Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts at school participate in a flag ceremony to kick off the day. This is the first year the Girl Scouts have participated. Apparently years past it's only been the Boy Scouts., which surprised me. Couldn't make Field Day this year. But pics were sent to me by one of our GS moms.

 

PRUNEY BABY FINGERS

Tested out the baby pool last night. Success! He likes it.

I knew he would. He loves baths so much I'm usually soaked when we are all done. I even have to wipe down the wall.

 

 

 

BOX RIDES

What to do with big diaper and wipes boxes. We did this with Violet too. 

He loved it.

 

MAJOR HAIRCUT

I've struggled with what to do with Harley's hair for quite some time. It was getting really long. If I let it go she'd look like the Yorkie pictured below. Cute, but a lot of maintenance. So I decided to cut it all off and keep it short.

BABY BIRDS

Getting bigger. Not as ugly.

MYSTERY BIRD

Mystery bird solved. A very strange situation. Yesterday we went out to look at the nest. Mommy Robin was in there so we couldn't see the babies. But I almost got nailed by the bird pictured below. It flew out and onto the house next door. Then I heard a ton of commotion from the back of the tree. I walked around and looked around and found this guy (above pic) It's a young Finch. Still has tons of fluffy feathers and I don't think it can fly yet. It just kept hopping around from branch to branch. Obviously not happy that I was there. I searched on line for "do birds share nests?" and other variations of that question and came up with nothing. So apparently the Robin doesn't care that another bird is occupying her nest along with her and her babies.

Today we got to see the babies.

SOCCER PARTY

Party at Custard's Last Stand last night.

We got our pictures from this season and Violet got her trophy. But the most important part was getting ice cream.

WHAT THE..HUH?

Baby bird update: There seems to be another bird living in the nest with the baby Robin's and the mommy bird. I took this Monday night and thought maybe this was the mommy Robin and the dad was the one sitting on the nest. Not the case. Yesterday afternoon Violet and I went out after school to see the nest. This little bird squeezed out from under the Robin sitting on the nest. It startled us. I watched it fly off and where it went. It flew over to our white arbor and then the fence. It's a Finch!? Very weird.
