GRAB THE LIFEBOATS!
We sprung a leak in the hot water heater Tuesday night. It was actually in the expansion tank that's attached above the hot water heater. I went to put the Easter stuff away and new something was wrong the minute I got downstairs. It smelled musty and damp. I opened the doors to the storage area and heard the hissing noise. The hole was only the size of the head of a pin but that was enough. Water all over the floor. Luckily I don't keep a whole lot of stuff near the tank, so the only stuff that got wet were some left over wood, a folding table, and two boxes. However the water did go under the wall into the finished area. Luckily that area is linoleum and I have a 5x8 rug on the floor. The rug soaked up most of that water. If that rug had not been there I think the water would have traveled across the floor to another wall and into the area we have carpet. So it took every towel in the house to clean up the mess. Chris managed to get some help yesterday and fix it. We had to buy a new expansion tank. The hard part was getting the old one off. So far this is the second tank on our street to spring a leak like this. We've been letting everyone know.

Oh, the joys of home ownership.
Insurance claim?
no damage, just lots of running around. Turned off the water and replaced the part. $48 fix.
