FEELING MUCH BETTER

Violet's feeling much better now. She's just got a runny nose now. She's been stuck in the house for five days and has been driving us crazy. She's got a bit of cabin fever. Today we got outside for 3 hours and wore her out. You can see from the photos of the crazy hair it was a bit windy.

SAVE HANDMADE

There have been many concerns with indi artists, crafters, and small toy manufacturers about the new Consumer Products Saftey Improvement Act. This puts new restrictions on toys. Which is a good thing considering the recent issues of lead found in toys. However it will put small indipendent creaters out of business because of the testing that is required is to expensive. I think testing is fine but the cost is outragious. What I don't really understand is that most of us are creating work from supplies bought out in retail. Shouldn't that stuff have been tested for lead and phithalates? If I make a plushy out of fleece sold at Joann's is that not tested? I could understand if I raise my own sheep and make my own wool, or make my own dyes, etc. If I was creating the materials to make the item then I think there is an area for concern. This doesn't exactly affect me since my work isn't really geared for children. I even specify that it's not. But it kind of walks that fine line. Anyway, I know many people who make items for children and will be directly affected by this. To get more info go here.

CONSPIRACY...MAYBE

I find it interesting how the news is obsessed with the Swine Flu and has suddenly stopped talking about the fall of the economy. The government (which I'm sure controls the media) wants you to be scared, stay home, freak out and forget about the economy.

SO SAD

We had a bit of a rough morning. Went to the Dr. in our PJs and slept a lot. Took this picture at lunch. She still isn't interested in eating much. Applesauce is about it and even that was a struggle. Her fever broke after nap time around 3:00 and she looks much better. I'd take another photo but I'm too tired and don't feel that great myself. Violet still has to stay home tomorrow because the rule at school is a child has to be fever free for 24hr before they can return. So Chris will be taking over tomorrow.

NO PIGGY FLU HERE

No strep, no flu, just viral. It just has to run its course.

HOLD ME : (

That's pretty much all we've done since 12:30. We got a call around lunch that Violet had a fever of 101 and by the time we were able to pick her up it was 102. It's gone up and down from 101 to 103 all afternoon. We called the Dr. and were told unless it was 104 and she had other symptoms there's no need to bring her in. So we're just keeping an eye on it, giving her tylenol and ice water. She thinks ice water is a treat. She's slept pretty much since we got home but she wants us to hold her. I tried to lay her in the bean bag but she wanted nothing to do with it. Problem with holding her is I get hot which I would think just makes her hot. She just went to bed and her fever was down to 101. So hopefully she'll sleep it away.

INVISIBLE HANDS

Still not a fan of the grass. I only put her out there because she kept crawling to the edge of the deck where she can fall off.

PAT THEM GENTLY

I think she's really getting this concept. Pat Them Gently is a board book about what to do when you meet a pet. It also has fake furry areas inside. She knows the book when you say to go get it. We've also been using the term when it comes to Ivy and Willow. We got her a stuffed Pom and the reaction at first was pretty funny. I think she thought it was real by her expression and the fact that she wouldn't really go near it. At first she did gently pet it, then she realized it wasn't real and rolled and flung it around. Watch out Minni and Bitsy. Violet might think you're just a stuffed toy.

ON THEN OFF, ON THEN OFF

These are really just a novelty. She doesn't keep them on long enough to do any good. It's more fun taking them off and trying to put them back on. Then she gets mad because she can't do it herself.

PONYTAILS

Chris has been wanting ponytails for a while now. I managed to get two in. It's a bit hard when she's squirming around. Goody hair products make tiny clear hair bands and they seem to stay in place real well. Now we just need bows.
