LOOK AT ALL THE GEESES!

This photo really doesn't even begin to show how many geese flew over the house. This is from Thursday night. There were hundreds if not more. They were so loud you could hear them from inside the house. They usually fly over ever evening around 5 pm, but this is the most we've ever seen.

DRESSING UP FOR DINNER

She can wear whatever she wants. As long as she'll eat.

More dress up after dinner.

WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

We went outside to play in the snow on Saturday. First time on a real sled. I think we're going to have to go buy a sled. Mr. Jeff made a small hill in his front yard. Perfect for all the little kids. Thanks Miss Juvy for taking the pics.

BIRTHDAY INVITES

(cover)This years invite design.

Violet's bday this year is of course, Dora themed! So yes, we'll have a Dora cake and Dora balloons but that is about. Most of the Dora decorations that are available are really ugly. So I decided we'll do Mexican Fiesta decorations and have nachos and tacos along with the cake.

WONKINESS FIXED...KINDA

So the box is together after much frustration. After getting everything all glued and nailed together when I put the two sides together corners were not lining up properly. It's not because I measured or cut wrong it's because our saw does not cut a true 90 degree angle. I've had this problem before. The saw isn't exactly high end and is fine for stuff like building a fence or deck but when it comes to making something that needs to be pretty accurate it stinks. So after much fussing, wood filler and sanding I got things looking pretty good. I know I put the hinges on before I painted it but in order to make sure everything was lining up right I needed to add them. I'll take the front latches off before I paint it but I'm leaving the piano hinge on. Which by the way, why make a 24" hinge if no hardware store is going to carry them. Had to go with two 12" hinges. The next size is 30".What? Next up, painting and wallpapering the inside. I'll be using leftover wallpaper from Aunt Karen's old room. Dad saved all the extra wallpaper.

WORK IN PROGRESS

I got all the pieces for Violet's doll box cut out last night. In this pic nothing is glued together yet, it's all just sitting in place. It'll stand 27" tall and 12" wide. I found the small dresser at Hobby Lobby and it fits perfectly inside. More pics coming later as I finish it.

WHITE IVY

Yesterday's snow. About 8-9ish inches. I had to shovel the grass before letting the dogs out. Wednesday night when we got home I shoveled the back porch and grass every few hours. It was coming down very fast. One of those times I accidentally buried Ivy under three shovel fulls of snow. She insisted on getting out the door before I could get out first, so I just decided to shovel and let her run around. I didn't know she had gotten behind me, up against the house, next to the deck. I heard her bell and whining. That's when I realized what had happened. I had to pick her up and shake her off. She was completely covered, all white. The only thing visible was her tongue hanging out. Wish I had gotten a pic of that. Maybe next time she'll wait till I'm done before trying to squeeze out the door ahead of me.

SAY WHAT? WEDNESDAYS

Every night geese fly over our house. Not just a few geese, a few hundred geese. It's always around 5:00-5:30ish. Before it got real cold we'd go outside and watch them fly over. Monday evening we happened to be in the car heading home from the dentist. I asked Violet were she thought the geese were going. She said, "a pond". I said "are they going to go fishing at the pond". She said, "No, they can't fish. They no have hands."

BIG GIRL BED

The weekend before last Violet's BIG girl bed arrived and I also finished working on all the bedding and decor. I bought the pink comforter and pillow shams in a Full, in order to get the two pillow shams, and then cut the comforter down to a Twin size. The left over material from that I used to make the two small longer pillows on the end of the bed. Last spring I purchased 4 yards of the bird material and used every bit of it.

Made the wall hangings out of different size embroidery hoops and used the fabric.

Fuzzy pom-poms!!

Bought these bird cages at Hobby Lobby last summer and painted them to match the room. I still haven't decided if I want to hang them or not.
I'd still like to make a green shaped bird pillow for the bed or chair and a stuffed bird on a stand.

I found this plastic cuckoo clock last summer but decided it looked tooo small hanging on the wall by itself so I bought a plaque to hang it on. I spray painted it pink then used that Martha Stewart glitter I like so much and glued it all over it. It looks much better now.

I HAVE CAZY HAIR!

The result of rubbing her head all over the bean bag. She'd roll her head all over the bean bag and then run to the bathroom mirror to see what it looked like. She did this for about 10 minutes.

I MIGHT HAVE GONE OVERBOARD

::click image and then click again to see larger:::
Violet's 3rd birthday is coming up on March 1st. She's getting an 18" doll for her birthday. This is a Madame Alexander doll not Am. Girl. I can't justify spending $95 for a 3yr old, even if she is really gentle with her toys. Maybe someday. So to save money I decided to make a wardrobe of clothing instead of buying any. I started just before Thanksgiving. I have tons of scraps just collecting dust and this was a great way to use a lot of them up. Yes, I might have made a few to many but it was fun.
Violet is also getting a bed that I need to finish the bed skirt on and a doll box that we have yet to start working on.

The blue dress, the last dress shown, is Violet's birthday dress. I am currently working on that right now.

SNOW DAY

Violet loved the snow this year. No crying and screaming like last year. She mostly enjoyed the eating of the snow.

Don't eat yellow snow.

Everyone came out to play.

Super red cheeks. I'll have to put Aquaphor on that tonight. Violet gets chapped lips and cheeks easily.

EVENING GRUMPIES

Most evenings Violet is pretty grumpy on the way home from school.
