I'm getting conflicting info on the web. Any one have any advice to quitting pumping. I started out gradually and have stopped all together as of a week ago. I went three days at the beginning with no pain. I've tried just about everything to ease the pain. Nothing is working. Any suggestions? I'm about ready to go back to pumping.

It was an ever slow process of quitting with my first son. I knocked out one feeding or pumping session per week. The last feeding was 30 min, then 20 min, then the next week 10 min, then the next week I quit. I nursed Mica until he was a year and a half. Isaak I'm still nursing (8 months). Stop ever so slowly.
Warm washcloths help for any pain.
If you are in a lot of discomfort you could have mastitis, a plugged mammary gland. Talk to your doctor or a lactation consultant about it.
Ah, I told you it was going to hurt! Jackson was only breastfeeding in the morning and the evening and it still hurt, then I made the mistake of reading some tips online which made it worse. It took about a week for it to get better. Since you slowed down on pumping and you are producing less, it has just taken three days for your breasts to get engorged. My advice is that if you decide to pump again, you are just prolonging the inevitable, see if you can hold out another day or two, maybe you can get some pain medicine from your OB/Gyn.
DO NOT PUMP AGAIN! What worked for me...a weekend away from which ever kid I was nursing when I stopped. I also wore extremely tight athletic bras - even to sleep in. On top of that, when I wasn't leaving the house, cold cabbage leaves. They're the perfect size and fit nicely in your bra. When they're ready to change, you can tell...I know it sounds crazy, but it totally worked.
Thanks for all the advice. I've tried everything you guys have mentioned. I just thought there might be some other magic remedy. I think I'm going to pump again and just do a little once a day and see how it goes. I've been at this for over a week. I couldn't pick Violet up or raise my arms. Maybe I just didn't taper it off slow enough.
I have no advice here since I am still bf Charlie and I have no recollection how I quit w/ Max. I just thought the pic you used was hilarious.
I'm glad somebody mentioned the pic. I thought it was funny. I put some thought into that one.
