WIGGIN' OUT

Tiny wigs straight from Hong Kong.

So I decided to re-wig Violet's dolls. Though I love the look of the Madame Alexander dolls I hate the hair. I know why the American Girl dolls are more expensive and superior, it's the hair. I searched on line for people who do custom AG dolls and discovered how to re-wig a doll and where to buy the hair.

New hair. Much better quality. The MA dolls heads must be a tiny bit larger than the AG girls. It was a little difficult getting these on.

MA Ariel doll. This dolls hair was the worst! SUPER frizzy.  The super red hair was a bit much too.

I had to cut all the hair off as close to the skull as possible.

That's a lot of hair.

I decided to go with a more natural red hair coloring. I bought the extra long hair for this one.

Before I attempted this on Violet's two dolls I took the doll that I keep in my studio and did her hair first. After success I ordered two more wigs.

Very happy with the results and Violet can actually brush these without getting the brush stuck in their hair.

Yesterday was the perfect day to stay in and play with her dolls. She had the whole living room set up.

2012 SCHOOL PIC

FEELING PATRIOTIC

Violet wore her Fourth of July shirt yesterday in honor of election day. Her class got to vote yesterday too. I remember voting for ice cream flavors in preschool using colored pieces of paper.  Violet's class voted on four causes very important to them. What's your favorite quite time activity?, What's your favorite snack?, What's your favorite animal? and What's your favorite fun activity? Results were posted outside the classroom. No word if a recount was needed.

Yes, those are the voting stickers stuck to her knees.

HALLOWEEN 2012

Checking out the loot.

The aftermath. IOn the process of putting it all away right now.

Video coming soon.

HALLOWEEN SET UP

The jumping spider is new this year. We've made a few adults jump with this one. I'll take video later.

Old favorites.

Also new. Talking animatronic.

This is the new fog machine contraption. It'll hold a bag of ice and dry ice. The fog is pumped into the cooler and it comes out the other end. Gives the effect of rolling fog.

This always all looks better in the dark.

PUMPKIN CARVING

Appropriate this year.

Scoopin' out the goo.

And yes... we use giant rubber gloves. I can't stand the smell.

STAR OF THE WEEK

Violet is the Star of the Week this week. She gets to take something from home in the Star of the Week bag to share with her class. She's supposed to share something about her self. Today she took her soccer trophy and soccer photo.

SPIRITS OF THE PAST

Spirits of the Past at Missouri Town

It was pretty cold last night. We bundled up for some trick or treating.

This place doesn't need a bunch of gorey halloween stuff. The 1850s decor in the dark only lit by candles is enough to spook anyone. Lot of great visuals.

Table full of 1850s home remedies. If you have a bug bite, just mix up some manure and urine into a paste and slap it on.  I wonder how they came up with all their concoctions.

Hot apple cider to warm us up.

Love these guys. They had them last year. They're made up of stuff laying around the village.

Old material, twigs, corn stalks and a pumpkin.

GOOEY FINGERS

Separating the pumpkin seeds from the pumpkin goo. Gross.

END OF THE SOCCER SEASON

We've officially ended the soccer season. Time for a break and do something else. I think she started to loose interest the last two weeks. But we'll be ready to go again next spring.

Warming up before the last game.

Good game, good game, good game, etc.

Last night Violet had her end of the season party at Custard's Last Stand. The girls all wore their halloween costumes. Violet wore her Tangled dress because I knew the sleeves of her Sleeping Beauty dress would get ice cream all over them.

The coveted trophies. Violet has been asking all season if she'll get a trophy.

Soccer photos were also handed out.

Beaming!
