PANCAKE BREAKFAST

Wednesday was our annual neighborhood first day of school pancake breakfast. I couldn't make it this year but Chris did. Not sure what the displeased look on Violet's face is all about.

The number of kids going to elementary school this year is significantly smaller. We've got a group that started middle school this year. Unfortunately because they start so early they miss the big group breakfast. But they had a small one of there own.
Then Mr Matt drives them all to school in the Mizzou bus. The above pic, minus Violet and Elise, are this years bunch of elementary school kids. Though Violet looks like she's ready for Kindergarten now.

STRIPPER APPLIED ;)

Look how pretty the veneer is in the drawers.

Water stain on top gone. I sanded most of it last night. Will finish that up tonight and clean it up. I'll be ready to stain it next.

The book explains what all the attachments are and how to use them. Good thing because the only one I recognized was a ruffler foot.

1942 IMPERIAL KENMORE ROTARY SEWING MACHINE

Many of you know we have been cleaning Chris' dads house out. Not many treasures were found but I did manage to bring home his Grandmothers 1942 kenmore sewing machine w/ cabinet. The machine is in perfect condition. I call it the bullet. His Grandmother was very meticulous and took great care of the machine. In fact the drawers still contained all the attachments for this machine as well as the manual, and a pair of pinking shears.
I want to take the machine to Missouri Sewing Machine Co. to have it cleaned and serviced, although the electrical cord is fully attached to the inside of the cabinet. I can unplug the machine and take it out but can't get the cord out. I don't really want to have to take the whole cabinet in.

The cabinet has a little water damage on top but is in pretty good condition. No ripped veneer. I am currently stripping the cabinet right now. All hardware has been removed from the cabinet and will be cleaned as well. I will have to post a picture of it stripped. It looks really good. This picture doesn't show how cool the veneer on the draws really looks. My plan is to stain it a darker cherry color. This oak color is not my style.

FIRST DAY-GIRAFFE CLASS

Yesterday was the first day of the last year at Olive Tree :(
Violet is now a Giraffe!! I just happened to find a giraffe shirt for her first day in her new class room.
