NEW DRESSES

I officially have a fabric addiction and can't not buy cute fabric. I mad five sun dresses like this one. They take less than a yard and about an hour to make. Last time I made a shirred dress like this Violet was only about 18months old.

I'm also having fun trying out new hair styles. This is a little french braid that wraps around the back and gets put into a ponytail.

Is the shirring done with elastic? I always wanted to know how to do it. But couldn't figure it out.

Yeah. You can buy elastic thread. It's found with all the other elastics. It's on a long spool. The elastic thread goes on the bobbin. Spooled on tightly. Regular thread on top. Use a quilting pen to draw lines on front of fabric. I did mine every 1/2" at 8 rows. Follow the lines and sew all lines. Then spray it w/ water to get it really wet and then steam it w/ the iron. This will shrink it uo even more as well as get rid of the pen lines. Then sew up the back seam and add straps.
