BIG WEEKEND

Violet finally has figured out how to sit up from a laying position. I know, this should have happened months ago. She's also getting on her knees on her own now as well as taking steps when holding onto the couch or your hands. She figured out how to really play with her maracas and if you ask her where her head is she touches her head with both hands. She also can point out eyes in books but hasn't figured out she has them too. These are great achievements this weekend except she still doesn't want to drink. It's been going on, off and on, since christmas, but this week has been the worst. Let me first state that Violet has never cared about her bottle or food. Her main priority has never been about eating. In fact there have been evenings it's taken 45 minutes to feed her her dinner. So when people say try putting her milk in a sippy cup or she'll eventually drink it, they just don't understand. Anyone have any suggestions?

I don't know which is worse, having a baby that has no interest in eating, or having one that can not stop.

She has consistently been in the upper percentiles in weight, right? It might just be that genetics is starting to kick in and she will slim down more and is just not that hungry, what is she doing at Daycare?

What happens if she does not drink/eat? Maybe you should try just letting her go one day and feed her when she wants food, and if it takes all day for wanting it I think that is okay. Our Doctor mentioned that they eat in spurts, where they are not interested in eating one day, adn then the next they will eat a lot. I know Violet has not done this, but it might be becuase she is on a schedule that she does not have the opportunity to.

FYI, for as huge as you saw Jackson's belly, he is only in the 30rd percentile for weight, but 77th for height, so you would think hearing those numbers we would have a really skinny toddler!

She won't drink at school. Last wed & thurs she had only drank her bedtime bottle both days. As a result she was super constipated. It was bad enough that she'd cry. That's my biggest concern. I'm trying to avoid that. I can get water into her more than I can the milk. Trying Pedialyte does not work at all. However she will drink water out of a straw that we take out of the cup and put into her mouth. It's a game to her. But that will take forever at one sip at a time.
I don't think she ever gets hungry. I think she gets that from me. I rarely get that hungry feeling. I just end up with a headache or not feeling good if I've gone to long not eating.

kids will drink when they're thirsty and eat when they're hungry. syndie might be right...she may not like milk. as long as she is having steady growth, then i wouldn't stress out too much.

that being said, if she thinks your straw game is so much fun, she might just be playing you...kids are incredibly smart that way.

btw, i can never get our kids to drink flavored pedialyte...have you tried the plain?
