NURSES ADVICE

Called the Dr's office this morning to get some advice. We were told to just keep trying to get her to drink. Thanks, I never thought of that. Plus we were told she should be drinking 20oz. That's crazy! Even if she was drinking all her milk right now it still only adds up to 16oz.

I put this on one of you earlier blogs, but try Pedialyte or water. Maybe she'll drink one of those over milk. They even have yogurt juice. I'm not a big fan of juice because of the added sugars, but yogurt is good for them. Some fluids are better then no fluids.

You could even make a smoothie with YoBaby Yogurt, fruit and milk. Maybe if it tastes really good she'll drink it.

My guess is that she just doesn't feel good, and won't drink or eat much of anything right now. In a day or two when she feels better you won't be able to fill her up fast enough.

Chloe went through a non-drinking phase when she was about 9 months old. She wouldn't drink more than 12 to 16 ounces a day for about a month. The doctor laughed when I told her about it and said Chloe had enough fat that she wasn't worried about it at all. It completely annoyed me that she laughed at my concerns and offered no help, so I feel for you!

I hope she gets back on the milk soon, but I don't really have any good tips.

It sounds like she might just skip the crawling and walk soon- awesome!!

It could be that she doesn't like the taste of milk. We had that problem with Ella. Since she was so small, the doctor told us to try adding Carnation Instant Breakfast to her milk. I usually only put about half of the normal serving in. It eventually worked for us. Ella still doesn't like milk (and to be honest neither do I), but she will drink it with meals now.

Politically Incorrect Advice: I know I get really thirsty when I eat chips and salsa. Give her some and then see if she'll drink her milk. If she won't try a sippy with Mountain Dew and see if she likes that better. If that doesn't work, try a big fat peanut butter sandwich with no jelly. Her little gums will be so stuck together she'll be begging for the stuff!!(FYI I do not have children....please do not report me to DFS)
