ALMOST LAUGHING

I thought I'd get some video of Violet when she wakes up in the morning. It's not exactly the most exciting video. But she's all smiles and is trying real hard to laugh or make a noise. Right now it's just a high pitch squeal or weezing sound with a lot of opening her mouth and nothing coming out. She wakes at 6:45 to eat and then goes back to sleep till 9:30 which is her real wake up time. But right before she wakes up she fusses a bit but her eyes are still closed. Once I put my hand on her chest and say her name she goes crazy. Of course this video doesn't show how excited she usually gets.

TWO MONTH PHOTOS

She's actually 2 1/2 months but here's her two month photos. We picked them up yesterday. It's a pretty good photo. They managed to get a photo of her holding her head up. Which didn't last long. She's still a little wobbly but she's able to hold it up more now.

BIG HEAD

I thought I'd better get a picture of Violet in this outfit before her head out grew the hat. This sweater and bonnet were mine so that makes them 32 years old. Grandma Verble made them for me and I'd have to say it's held up really well. Unfortunately it's really to warm to wear the bonnet and by this fall her head will be way to big for it. I may be able to use the sweater then, it's actually a little big.
Of course she wasn't cooperating with me today and just wanted to sleep. As you can see in the second photo, her hair is really starting to grow back.

SCARRY METAL BABY FURNITURE

I love old ads like these. What is that crazy contraption all the way to the right. It looks like a cross between a bouncer and a highchair. I actually grew up with a playpen like that. I turned out fine. I wish they still made something like that. I think the Pack-n-Plays are stupid. I already barely use mine it just seems like a little cage to me. It did come in handy the first 6 weeks but I haven't really used it since.

COINCIDENCE

TWO MONTH CHECKUP

Violet's 2 month checkup was this morning. She now weighs 12lb 5oz putting her in the 90%. She is 24 in long putting her in the 95% and her head measures 40cm around putting her in the 80%. She had all of her shots today too. She wasn't to happy getting those. She screamed like I've never seen. Turning bright red and crying really hard. But it didn't last long. I got her calmed down, dressed her and put her in her car seat and within minutes she was asleep. I think she just wore herself out.
I'm still amazed at length. She's just about out grown her 3 month pajamas. They fit fine everywhere except in length. Her feet and legs are all bunched up inside. So I'm thinking of cutting the feet off of all of them and hemming them so we can get at least another month out of them.
The doctor says everything looks great and to just keep doing what we're doing.

WHAT A DIFFERENCE 1 MONTH MAKES

I had to put a jacket on Violet yesterday because it was so cool. I took the top photo yesterday and the bottom photo on April 1st. Look how huge her head got in just one month. The hood was pretty snug on her head. I don't think I'll get much more us out of it. Of course if it warms up and stays warm it won't matter. Thursday is her doctors appointment for her first set of shots. We'll see how much she weighs then and see how the doctor thinks she's progressing. I hope all goes well with the shots and she won't get much of a fever.

OVER THE RIVER AND THROUGH THE WOODS....

Well there was a river but no woods just a lot of nothing along the way. This past weekend was our first time away from home to visit Grandma. We went to St. Louis for a long weekend. It didn't go as smoothly as we had hoped. Violet was pretty cranky the whole time. New sounds, smells and things to see, which she loved, but left her over stimulated by the evening and hard to put to sleep. Hopefully she will get more used to us traveling to St. Louis and the next time will be better. Cranky for her still isn't that bad but when you're not used to it it becomes frustrating.
Her sleeping is still going well. The trip didn't seem to throw things off to much. She goes down at 8ish wakes up once or sleeps till 5am. She's a good baby.

PLAY GYM

Why spend $60 for what I think are ugly play gyms when I can just make one out of PVC for $5 and it comes apart a lot easier. If I really wanted to I could cover the whole thing with fabric to match the playmat I made a while ago, but I don't think she cares.
I just bought a 10ft 1/2" pvc pipe and some angled fittings, cut it with the chop saw and added the fittings. I could have glued the whole thing together but this way it comes apart.

LETS GO FLY A KITE

It was a perfect day for kite flying. Longview had their annual kite festival so we decided to check it out. At one point there must have been a couple hundred kites in the air from professionals to your average Joe. As you can see from the picture below Violet slept through the whole thing.

VIOLET IN DA CLUB

Fun with iMovie. We're learning to use iMovie . Don't know why it's so grainy or small. All we did was take the same video as the last post and add music.

SO ANGRY...WHERE'S MY MILK!

That's really about as angry as she gets. She likes marching, or as Chris calls it 'conducting an imaginary orchestra', which is her other sign for being mad.
