SAY WHAT! WEDNESDAYS

We have a few homes being built in our subdivision as well as many new rooves being replaced. Violet is very interested in the houses being built and worked on. Everyday she says she wants us to "drive by the house they working on". So yesterday on the way home in the car, without any discussion about houses, Violet says "when I grow up I wants to be a worker". We asked what she meant by 'worker' and she said "people who work on houses...roofers". This is officially the first time she's ever said what she wants to be when she grows up.
I'm sure she would have done a better job then our roofers.

SAY WHAT? WEDNESDAYS

Last night we decided to get Chinese for dinner. To make Violet eat we always tell her that in order to get her cookie(fortune cookie) she has to eat all her dinner. When the cookies came I showed her how to break it open. Usually I always break it for her and break up the pieces. This time I let her do it. Chris and I were reading our fortunes out loud. I asked Violet what she thought hers said. She looked down at it, as if she were reading it and said, "Violet eat her food all gone". Chris and I were dying laughing. She thought she was pretty funny. Someone has discovered humor.

SAY WHAT? WEDNESDAYS

Last night I mentioned to Violet how we need to work on her past and present tenses as well as what in the past, present and future means. I need to start correcting her. For anything that has happened in the past Violet says 'last night'. It could have happened 2 weeks ago, 2 days ago, or 2 hours ago, her response is always 'last night'. So after I said "past and present tense" last night, knowing she had no idea what I was saying, she looked at me and said, "Pass out presents". I think somebody has birthday on the brain.

SAY WHAT? WEDNESDAYS

Every night geese fly over our house. Not just a few geese, a few hundred geese. It's always around 5:00-5:30ish. Before it got real cold we'd go outside and watch them fly over. Monday evening we happened to be in the car heading home from the dentist. I asked Violet were she thought the geese were going. She said, "a pond". I said "are they going to go fishing at the pond". She said, "No, they can't fish. They no have hands."

SAY WHAT? WEDNESDAYS

"V for me, V for me!", is what Violet screams every time the geese fly over the house.

SAY WHAT? WENESDAYS

In the car on the way home this evening Violet said, "my tummy hurts". I replied, "why". She said, "because it wants candy".

SAY WHAT? WEDNESDAYS

Violet has hit the "WHY" stage. Every answer to WHY is another WHY. Also if there are multiples of anything, say a color, a shape, an animal, ANYTHING, she says "Mommy which one you like". She doesn't just say this once she says it over and over and over again. It's driving me a bit crazy.

SAY WHAT? WEDNESDAYS

I forgot to post this last week. After seeing the Macaroni penguins at the STL zoo we asked her what kind of penguins did she see. She said she saw "mac and cheese pengins".

SAY WHAT? WEDNESDAYS

Violet does not like soda. Which is fine with me. This summer her class walked to Dairy Queen for lunch where they gave the kids Sprite. I wasn't a real fan of this but I told her teachers that she'd probably reject it and ask for water. Their reply was 'oh no I bet she'll drink it'. Sure enough when we picked her up there was a note in her bag saying she didn't like the Sprite and asked for water. Just like I said. So every once in a while we ask Violet "Do you want a drink of mommy's soda". We only ask because her response is so funny. She says, "No, I don't like that. It's to spicy". Haha...spicy!

SAY WHAT? WEDNESDAYS

Imagine the scene. A fly is flying around the dinner table. Violet swats at the fly and yells, "no no ladybug, don't bother me". I should mention all bugs are ladybugs.

SAY WHAT? WEDNESDAYS

The sun is brutal on the way to school every morning. I enjoy the mornings when it is cloudy. Violet complains so much about the sun being in her eyes. This is Violet this morning, she said, "the sun is kissing Violey".

SAY WHAT? WEDNESDAYS

Violet definitely knows who the ice cream man is and gets excited when she hears his bell. Over the weekend he came by late in the afternoon almost around dinner time. We were inside getting dinner ready and Violet stopped what she was doing and began running back and forth from the front door to the kitchen yelling " I nee money, I nee money!". I guess talking to her about how we need money to pay for things has sunk in. So I guess I've got 18 more years of hearing 'I need money'.

SAY WHAT? WEDNESDAYS

This morning while sitting at a stop light I heard,
"go mama, go mama geen". Apparently she was in a hurry to get to school.

I've been told, "Horsies eat nanas".

SAY WHAT? WEDNESDAYS

Excuses for not eating:
These are all exclaimed at least once during meal times.
1. "Too hot, mama". - this one is her favorite
2. "Too big". - apparently every bite is too big now.
3. "Too spicy". - I think I've said this maybe once and now she says it all the time. I don't think she even knows what it means.
4. " no, no, no mama, milk".

SAY WHAT? WEDNESDAYS

Violet is always reminded to walk and not run. This happens a lot at school too. This past Sunday she was running and not looking where she was going and ran right into a desk full speed. It left a huge bump, bruise, and scrape just above her eye. Luckily it wasn't worse. Monday morning on the way to school we passed a man jogging on the sidewalk. Violet pointed to the man and said, "No running, walk". Maybe it's finally sunk in.

SAY WHAT? WEDNESDAYS

We had hamburgers for dinner last night. Violet's bun fell off her hamburger and she yelled "Oh no lid, no no lid". Apparently hamburger buns are lids.

SAY WHAT? WEDNESDAYS

Since Violet is talking a lot more now and making 3 to 4 word sentences I thought I'd start posting funny things she says. I may not be able to post something every week.

Last Friday after picking up Violet from school we decided to get some dinner at Chili's. After being seated and getting Violet situated I headed to the restroom to wash my hands. Just wash my hands! While I was gone the waiter came by to take our drink order. Violet looked up at the waiter and told him 'Mama big poop'. For someone who never talks to people she doesn't know, she felt compelled to tell the waiter this. I did not find out about this till the next day. Otherwise I might have gone back to the restroom to hide.
