I'M MOVING, I'M MOVING!!!!!

Violet crawled about six feet this evening. She's very cautious and stiff, and gets very serious. By the end of the weekend I'm sure she'll be a pro.

PUSH THE BUTTON

Nothing really new to report. Still not really drinking her milk during the day. She guzzles down her 8oz at bedtime so it can't be because she doesn't like it. I'm baffled.

I'm amazed at how quickly she is figuring things out now. You really only have to tell her or show her once and she gets it. The new one is we tell her to push the button to make music, then she dances. Dancing right now is sitting and bouncing up and down. She does this at a mexican restaurant we like to eat at too. Maybe that's why she loves her maracas so much.

NURSES ADVICE

Called the Dr's office this morning to get some advice. We were told to just keep trying to get her to drink. Thanks, I never thought of that. Plus we were told she should be drinking 20oz. That's crazy! Even if she was drinking all her milk right now it still only adds up to 16oz.

BIG WEEKEND

Violet finally has figured out how to sit up from a laying position. I know, this should have happened months ago. She's also getting on her knees on her own now as well as taking steps when holding onto the couch or your hands. She figured out how to really play with her maracas and if you ask her where her head is she touches her head with both hands. She also can point out eyes in books but hasn't figured out she has them too. These are great achievements this weekend except she still doesn't want to drink. It's been going on, off and on, since christmas, but this week has been the worst. Let me first state that Violet has never cared about her bottle or food. Her main priority has never been about eating. In fact there have been evenings it's taken 45 minutes to feed her her dinner. So when people say try putting her milk in a sippy cup or she'll eventually drink it, they just don't understand. Anyone have any suggestions?

TGIF

This week seems like it's lasted forever. We've all been sick with a cold this week. Violet has it now. Her eyes get all goopy when she gets a cold. This morning was the worst I've ever seen them. She couldn't even open her right eye it was so crusty and gross. We've also had a problem all week with her drinking. She's been refusing her bottles ever since tuesday. We called the doctor to see if we could switch to whole milk and got the ok. That hasn't really helped. She doesn't want it in a bottle or in a sippy cup. Today I held her down and she finally took it. Maybe she'll get over this funk by monday.

FRUSTRATION

We've been trying to work with Violet in the evenings on her crawling skills. When you try to put her on her knees she locks her legs and stands there like this. She'll stand like this for a while and start laughing.

So then we try putting all her toys out of reach. This sends her into a fit. She'll just look at the toy then look at us.

Last night her toys of choice where her Alphabet Snail and empty butter container. As you can see she looks like she's going to go after them. But all she's really doing is reaching as far as she can. When she realizes she can't reach them she waves her hands in the air, starts crying, and then wilts. Wilting is what we call it when she starts crying and puts her head down to the floor while she's sitting. She usually does this really slowly.

We tormented her for about 15 minutes till she was wore out. This looks like a fake cry. BooHoo.

SEND ME YOUR ADVICE

I'm getting conflicting info on the web. Any one have any advice to quitting pumping. I started out gradually and have stopped all together as of a week ago. I went three days at the beginning with no pain. I've tried just about everything to ease the pain. Nothing is working. Any suggestions? I'm about ready to go back to pumping.

PROBLEM SOLVER

I know how to take my socks off and try to put them back on. I can also try and brush my hair. I can take the lid off a butter container (washed of course) put a block in it, close the lid then shake it up. I can ride my little car. I know who Dada, Ivy and Willow are. I can take my foam bathtub ABC's and stick them to the side of the tub and take them off and put them in the cup when Mommy says too. I can wave and play Patty cake. I know who some of my stuffed animals are. I can play PeekaBoo with a blanket. But I still can't figure out how to crawl!

CABBAGE HEAD

Again ...eyes closed. I've only got one chance to get a photo like this. There's no retakes because she starts taking it off her head. Which as you can see she's about to do in this pic.

THAT'S MY MONKEY

Ivy was a good sport about letting Violet hold her monkey. Violet pulled on one end while Ivy pulled on the other. Both dogs have become very comfortable with Violet. Of course she hasn't chased after them yet.
